The Artist
behind the camera…
It’s more than just an image.
It’s an emotion.
Being able to connect with people and offer a great experience makes it all worth it.
Born and raised in Sacramento, I have explored nearly every avenue in my 20+ years as a photographer. With my start as a studio based High School Senior Portrait Photographer I’ve been able to apply that experience to portraits, weddings, events, editorial and commercial photography. I’ve been published, earned awards and taught new photographers. I’m also a people person able to connect and listen and apply the experience I’ve gained to create the look my client wants with a style I’ve established over the years. Even when a client isn’t sure what they want, I’m able to give them a starting point that may even be better than what they had in mind. With a combination of directing a shoot to capturing those in-between candid moments my aim is to get natural and expressive expressions that show the person you are and the story you want to tell. How I like to explain it, I want to show a range of emotions, like a song with multiple notes. Otherwise, what’s a song if it only has one note?
For a brief look into my background, I always thought I would be a photojournalist until I realized I much prefer directing and being a studio photographer most times. I also thought I would get into equestrian photography as horses have been and always will be my first love and passion, particularly the English and jumping side. In college I finally decided I’d try my hand at photography and found another love of creating something out of nothing with my own hands and developing it into something. I worked hard finding my style and trying everything from black and white film, color, abstract, documentary, photojournalism, alternate processes to advanced studio portraiture. It was my first job in 2006 that I became a full time senior portrait photographer that I was able to really apply my portrait posing and lighting experience to taking it outside and using the world as my studio.
In 2018 I decided to expand my knowledge wheelhouse and found a mentor, who has become a dear friend, to teach me the ways of wedding and event photography. She was a hard task master who I thank because she really helped me become the photographer I am today.
Everything worth having is worth striving for and I’m always working on my craft and being able to offer my clients the best at what I do. This is why when clients partner with me they’re getting quality and timeless imagery they’ll be able to pass on for years to come.
And now I’m excited to meet you and create the photos for your family, company or personal branding you’re looking for!

From a fellow professional...
"Sarah and I worked together as photographers years ago, and I have always admired her creativity and attention to detail. Her precise editing skills are stunning, and her photographic eye is impeccable! She has a way of making people feel comfortable and at ease, whether she’s photographing them or coaching them. I am more then honored to have had her coach me early on in my beginning years as a photographer, and she has without a doubt helped encourage me and given me the confidence I needed while out on my own. Whether you hire her for an event, special occasion or purchase some of her art work you will get to experience exquisite talent!"
